When Lynette's twins paint a classmate blue, they are threatened with expulsion unless she can keep them under control. Efforts to separate them prove disastrous, so she caves in and gets a prescription for ADD medicine. Ultimately, she decides she likes her boys better unmedicated and that it's better to self-medicate with some wine.

The women listen to Mary Alice's therapy tape, which reveals that her real name was Angela, and that she was having recurring nightmares about a girl she feared. Susan convinces the others that they should show Paul the threatening "I know what you did" note they found among Mary Alice's things. He is shaken, but later tells Lynette and Gabrielle that Mary Alice was "not a well person" and probably wrote the note herself. Gabrielle observes, "I think he's lying." Paul hires a private investigator to find out who sent the note.

Andrew forces Bree to admit that Rex isn't out of town on business, but has moved out. When Andrew doesn't come home one night, she tracks him to a strip club where she humiliates him into coming home with her. To teach him a lesson, she removes the door to his bedroom.

Susan realizes she needs to be more bold in her pursuit of Mike when she sees Edie provocatively washing her car while Mike is working (shirtless!) in his yard. Susan finds an excuse to stop by Mike's and he asks her out to a movie at the local revival theater. Edie tells Mrs. Huber how furious that makes her, and the neighborhood gossip chews on the information that Susan is Edie's romantic rival. She visits Susan and accuses her of burning Edie's house down, producing the burnt measuring cup as evidence. As the price for her silence, she demands Susan start assuming some of the costs Edie is racking up as her house guest. When Mike sees Susan at the grocery store, she acts disinterested and turns down a movie invitation since Mrs. Huber is behind her in line. Buying additional groceries are one thing, but when Mrs. Huber demands $600 for a new water heater, Susan confesses the whole thing to Julie, who convinces her mother she has to keep quiet to avoid losing custody of her. Instead, Julie will break into Mrs. Huber's house and steal back the incriminating cup.

As Susan stands guard in front of the Huber house, Mike happens by and asks Susan out again. Just then Edie comes home, and in a desperate bid to keep her from going into the house while Julie's there, Susan ends up talking her into going to the movie with Mike instead, much to Mike's confusion and Edie's delight. Later that evening, Mrs. Huber confronts Susan about the missing measuring cup, but Susan admits she's destroyed it.

Gabrielle is taking a romantic bath with John when the cable guy shows up, three hours late. He slips on the wet bathroom floor and hits his head on the tub and has to be taken out in an ambulance. Seeing all the candles laid out, and considering how late the cable guy was there, Carlos is suspicious. When he finds a man's gym sock under the bed, Gabrielle hustles to come up with an unlikely excuse -- the maid uses them to dust. Gabrielle buys sandals for John so that Carlos won't see him wearing gym socks. Deciding the cable guy was messing around with his wife, Carlos shows up his house and beats him up, only then noticing all the photos of handsome men and posters for Broadway shows. "Is this because I'm gay?" asks the hapless cable guy. "Yeah," mutters Carlos and runs out. Watching the news later that night, Carlos sees the incident is being interpreted as a hate crime. The police sketch looks familiar to Gabrielle, but she wisely chooses not to say anything.
