AceShowbiz - A recent BET Awards incident has apparently sent Ray J into a downward spiral. The singer/reality TV star has said he was left feeling "suicidal" and reaching a breaking point following near brawl at a 2024 BET Awards afterparty.
The 43-year-old aired out his frustrations in a lengthy statement posted on his Instagram Story on Monday morning, July 1. "Then it went bad! first at #BET and then later on too! I'm really at a breakin point!" he wrote. "To provide for my family and have generational wealth was always the plan. But money is evil and people are bad and I can't take it anymore!"
He claimed that he was locked out of the award show, continuing, "These chain of reactions are stemming from being locked in a false reality/confused about this whole life! The s**t that happened tonight to me at the awards today was hurtful. I'm working backstage and then I go take a break in the back and BET wouldn't let me back in for some reason."
"I don't know who they didn't want me to see. It was weird," he added. "Anyway I left and went back to silence my frustrations...flashing back to my everyday thought of my life. The truth that's given is a LIE! I'm on my way out of the country."
Ray J, born William Ray Norwood Jr., also ranted about "dirty money," saying, "The s**t that is happening is mind blowing. It's making me suicidal and uncomfortable with the perception of reality! THEY PAID ME TO SHUT UP AND I DID! I FEEL BAD AND I HATE MYSELF FOR IT! I DON'T WANT ANYMORE OF YOUR DIRTY MONEY!!"
The brother of singer Brandy claimed, "and B4! Or. Right after I die. I promise you I will be free of it all and the world can move on with what is real for me no matter the consequences I have to face on the other side!! I TRIED TO DO IT FOR REAL LAST TIME!"
Before concluding his message, he apologized to his sister, "I'm sorry to myself and I'm sister. Sorry Bran, I will make it right, I won't let them get away with it! I TOLD THE PEOPLE CLOSE TO ME THAT I FELT LIKE SOMETHING IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN F**K IT. I SAID IT."
Ray J posted the lengthy rant after he got into a standoff with Zeus Network CEO Lemuel Plummer outside of GloRilla's BET Awards afterparty on Sunday night. Footage that went viral showed the two men having an intense conversation before Ray J attempted to swing at Lemuel.
At one point, Ray J grabbed a backpack out of his vehicle and charged back into the crowd, but his team was able to convince him to get back in the car. They eventually drove off without further incident.
