After years of rumors and speculations, series creator Jeff Eastin has confirmed that a reboot is officially in the works, and it's bringing back the original cast.

AceShowbiz - As "White Collar" experiences a surge in popularity years after its conclusion, a new version of the police procedural is in development, series creator Jeff Eastin announced at Variety's TV Fest.

Eastin confirmed that he is writing the script and that original stars Matthew Bomer, Tim DeKay and Tiffany Thiessen will reprise their roles. "We're gonna reboot. I'm writing the script," Eastin said at the panel.

DeKay emphasized that the new script "answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show," while also introducing it to new viewers. He added that the reboot will pay tribute to the late Willie Garson, who portrayed Mozzie on the original series, "in a profound way, with such sensitivity and such heart."

Although no plot details have been revealed, Eastin intentionally left the series' conclusion open-ended in 2014. The popularity of procedurals on Netflix has made the reboot a more feasible option.

"I always left it open," Eastin said. "But say thank you to 'Suits' for starting this streaming trend. They were doing great, and got people watching 'White Collar' now on Netflix."

The original "White Collar" aired on USA Network, but Disney now owns the IP through Fox Television Studios. The reboot's landing spot has yet to be confirmed, though DeKay expressed hope for a specific streaming platform.
