AceShowbiz - Kim Petras has shared an inspiring message of self-acceptance for her fellow trans fans. The Grammy-winning singer, 31, recalled being told by doctors and psychologists to "accept yourself" throughout her childhood, but she emphasized that this can be an overly simplistic and even harmful response.

Petras has been open about her gender journey since her early teens, publicly discussing her transition on television at age 13. Despite facing challenges and criticism, she has remained steadfast in her pursuit of authenticity.

In a recent Instagram Story, Petras wrote, " ‘Accept yourself’ can be a pretty shitty thing to say to someone... They couldn’t fathom that I had accepted myself since I can remember and accepted everything I knew I needed to do to be myself."

Petras has also shared her experiences with suicidal thoughts as a child before being supported by her parents in her gender transition. In her acceptance speech for the Grammy Award for "Unholy" last year, she credited her mother's unwavering belief for her success.

In addition to her personal advocacy, Petras has been vocal about her support for trans youth. She recently canceled festival appearances this summer to focus on "some health issues," but expressed her commitment to returning to the stage soon.

Adding to her accomplishments, Petras has been named the face of MAC Cosmetics. As a long-time fan of the brand, she is excited to represent MAC and its commitment to equality and inclusivity.

Petras' partnership with MAC Cosmetics includes starring in the latest campaign for the iconic Viva Glam lipstick, which supports organizations helping underserved individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. She shares that her first memory of MAC Cosmetics is seeing a black eyeshadow pot on her mother's vanity, and that makeup has always held a special meaning for her.

Petras believes that Viva Glam has the power to make people feel beautiful on the outside and inside. "When I was young, Viva Glam educated me about a lot of HIV issues," she said. "It's cool to to look back and be like, ‘This product has really helped a lot of people.’"

With her platform and her passion for LGBTQ+ rights, Kim Petras continues to inspire others to embrace their true selves and advocate for a more just and equitable world.
