Rapper Sean Kingston remains behind bars while his mother, Janice Turner, is freed on bond as they are charged with conducting an organized fraud scheme amounting to over a million dollars.

AceShowbiz - On Thursday, May 23, authorities raided Sean Kingston's Florida home, arresting his mother Janice Turner for fraud and theft charges. Hours later, Kingston was apprehended in San Bernardino County, California, for similar offenses.

Turner was released after four days in jail on a $160,000 bond. According to TMZ, she faces eight charges, including conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, and identity theft.

Kingston is still in custody and will face an extradition hearing on May 28 before being transported to Florida.

The arrest warrants released by the Broward County Sheriff's Office allege that Kingston, 34, and his mother, 61, stole over $1 million in recent months. They are accused of stealing jewelry ($495,000), money from Bank of America ($204,000), a Cadillac Escalade ($160,000), custom furniture ($86,000), and other items from various businesses.

Kingston's attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, stated that Kingston would voluntarily return to Florida if allowed, saving the state extradition and travel expenses.

Janice Turner pleaded guilty to bank fraud in 2006, serving nearly 1.5 years in prison. Both Kingston and his mother have faced lawsuits in the past for similar scams.

In 2020, Sean Kingston was accused of scamming a jeweler out of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. Ver Ver Entertainment, the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed in February, alleges that Kingston purchased entertainment equipment for $150,000 and only partially paid $30,000.

Kingston, who had a No. 1 hit with "Beautiful Girls" in 2007, is currently on probation for trafficking stolen property. Further details on that conviction are unavailable.
