Chad Michael Murray discusses his struggles with agoraphobia, the impact of fame on his mental health, and his thoughts on his past marriage to Sophia Bush.

AceShowbiz - Chad Michael Murray, known for his roles in "One Tree Hill" and "Mother of the Bride," has revealed his decades-long battle with anxiety. In a recent interview with The Cut, he shared his experience with agoraphobia, a disorder that involves intense fear of public or open spaces.

Murray described the onset of his anxiety at 23 while attending an event in Miami. "The world felt like it was closing in; I was having anxiety attacks," he said. According to the Mayo Clinic, agoraphobia often develops after a person experiences one or more panic attacks.

The actor said that despite the outward appearance of success during his time on "One Tree Hill," he was struggling internally. "I was walking around with a really pained heart," he explained. He realized a change was needed after his 25th birthday.

Murray credits a combination of therapy, religion, reading, and painting with helping him overcome his anxiety. He also mentioned his gratitude for his family, including his wife, Sarah Roemer, and their three children.

In a rare comment on his past marriage to Sophia Bush, his co-star on "One Tree Hill," Murray acknowledges his young age and lack of experience at the time. He said, "I was a baby. I didn't know up, down, left, right." Both have since moved on with their lives.

Murray's openness about his mental health struggles aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding anxiety disorders. He emphasizes the importance of seeking help and finding coping mechanisms to manage the condition.
