The 43-year-old actress showered her 41-year-old partner with praise in a new interview published on Wednesday, April 17. Speaking to PEOPLE, she said, "It would've felt like climbing an iceberg without him."
Olivia went on to state, "I don't think he had a moment to himself," before elaborating, "between being an incredibly hands-on father and going to and from the hospital, taking Malcolm to the park, putting him to nap, driving to Cedars-Sinai, hanging out with me, going home, putting Malcolm to bed, coming back to me." She then added, "And he did it all happily."
Aside from John, Olivia received support from her 2-year-old son Malcolm, whom she shares with the comedian. She recounted, "When I'm with him, it's the only time my brain doesn't think about being sick. I'm just so happy with him. And it puts a lot of stuff into perspective."
The actress additionally explained, "Because if my body changes, I'm still his mom. If I have hot flashes, I'm still his mom. If I lose my hair, I'm still his mom. That's really what matters the most to me. I get to be here for him."
The interview came a little over one month after Olivia broke the shocking news about her breast cancer diagnosis. Making use of Instagram on March 13, she shared a message that read, "I wouldn't have found my cancer for another year - at my next scheduled mammogram - except that my OBGYN, Dr. Thais Aliabadi, decided to calculate my Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score." She added, "The fact that she did saved my life."
