"They weren't gelling and realized they weren't romantically compatible," the source reveals in a new issue of Us Weekly, which is currently on stands. Assuring that the actor and his ex-girlfriend remain on good terms, the source claims, "There's no bad blood between them. They just had different ideas of what their relationship was going to be."
Tom and Elsina first sparked romance rumors in December 2023 after they were allegedly seen getting cozy at a party in London's Grosvenor Square. At that time, a source told Us that the pair had been dating for "a while."
"They're very happy," the so-called insider dished. "And Tom's extremely confident about it working out for the long term. ... They've hung out at Tom's favorite private members club and regularly enjoy afternoon tea and gourmet dinners out in London."
However, there have been conflicting reports about their relationship in recent weeks. Page Six reported in February that Tom "cooled things down" with Elisa because he felt their romance was moving "too fast." A so-called insider told the outlet, "Tom felt things were moving too fast, especially in the media. He wasn't there yet, so he's cooled things down, but they are still in touch."
Despite the rumored breakup, the source claimed that the door wasn't completely closed. "Some in Tom's group of acquaintances say it's over, but with Tom you never really know how that will happen," the source said, noting that Elsina also has "her own fortune that allows her to do as she pleases."
Later, In Touch shared a slightly different account of the couple's split. According to its source, Tom "scared off" Elsina by rushing into marriage. The 61-year-old reportedly asked his girlfriend to marry him after only a few months of dating.
While she initially accepted his proposal, she later "started questioning why Tom was in such a rush to tie the knot," the source said. "It was all moving too fast. She got scared off."
