Author Emily Henry wants to see the 'Bear' star and the 'Gladiator' actor, who sparked dating rumors after posting a joint selfie on St. Patrick's Day, together in an adaptation of one of her novels.

AceShowbiz - Emily Henry, the author of acclaimed romance novels, has suggested that actors Ayo Edebiri and Paul Mescal would be a perfect fit for a film adaptation of one of her books. The actors sparked dating rumors after posting a joint selfie on St. Patrick's Day.
Henry told Variety, "I think they would be amazing. I actually saw them being discussed [online] for several different roles." She added, "Those are two of my favorite 'Irish' actors."
While scripts for film adaptations of Henry's "Beach Read", "People We Meet on Vacation" and "Book Lovers" are in development, the author cannot confirm casting decisions. However, she did hint that the actors could play on or against type depending on the adaptation.
Despite the dating rumors, a source told PEOPLE that Edebiri and Mescal are "just friends." However, Henry is eager to see them together in any capacity, saying, "They're great, they could do anything."
Henry emphasized that the upcoming film adaptations will be respectful of fan interests. "I'm always watching my readers and I want them to be happy," she said.
Edebiri is currently working on season 3 of "The Bear", while Mescal is starring in the upcoming "Gladiator" sequel. Both actors have received critical acclaim for their performances.
Henry's "Beach Read" follows a romance novelist who grapples with loss and falls for her former rival, played by Mescal, who is an acclaimed literary fiction author. The "People We Meet on Vacation" screenplay, written by Yulin Kuang, has undergone multiple drafts, while "Book Lovers" is in the fine-tuning stage with a script by Sarah Heyward.
Henry stresses the importance of creating a cozy and distinct aesthetic in the film adaptations, similar to her signature book covers. She admires directors like Nancy Meyers and Nora Ephron, known for their enchanting sets and evocative atmospheres. Henry believes that the directors for her adaptations understand her vision and will prioritize reader satisfaction.
