The 'Iron Man' actress weighs in on the comic book movies, Saying the genre can lack of originality and it's easier to produce a truly authentic story 'when there's less at stake.'

AceShowbiz - During an appearance on "Hot Ones," Gwyneth Paltrow shared her thoughts on the current state of filmmaking, particularly regarding the trend of big-budget superhero movies.

Paltrow acknowledged the financial risks involved in both big- and small-budget productions but expressed concern about Hollywood's "big push into superhero movies." She noted that while there were many successful superhero films, it became increasingly difficult to produce truly original ones while still reaching a wide audience.

Paltrow recalled her experiences in smaller-budget films, which she believes allowed for greater artistic expression and authenticity. She lamented that many of those films would likely not be made today.

"I do think that you do get more diversity of art when there's less at stake," Paltrow said. "People can sort of express their true voice and make a film the way they want to make it. And then I think those are generally the more resonant ones."

Paltrow's views echo those of other critics, such as director Martin Scorsese, who has voiced concerns about the saturation of superhero movies in Hollywood. Matthew Vaughn, the director of "X-Men: First Class", has also suggested that audiences may need a break from the genre.

Paltrow's comments come despite her own involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the character Pepper Potts. However, she acknowledged the irony, stating, "I mean, you can only make so many good ones that feel truly original."

Paltrow's perspective highlights the ongoing debate within the film industry about the balance between commercial success, artistic expression, and the diversity of cinematic experiences.
