Two of 'The View' co-hosts have followed in the footsteps of Oprah Winfrey by coming clean about their journey to lose weight because of body image issue and body-shaming.

AceShowbiz - Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin, co-hosts of "The View", have shared their experiences with the weight loss drug Mounjaro, sparking a discussion on the use of obesity medications.

Goldberg revealed that she weighed nearly 300 pounds while filming "Till" in 2022. After the film's release, Goldberg defended herself against claims of wearing a fat suit, stating that her weight gain was due to steroids prescribed for an illness. She later used Mounjaro to shed the extra weight.

"I had taken all those steroids and was on all this stuff," she said today, "and one of the things that helps me drop the weight is Mounjaro."

Hostin also disclosed that she gained 40 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic and turned to Mounjaro to lose the weight.

"During Covid I gained 40 pounds," the co-host said. "All I did was eat. I love to cook and I found out I love to eat. And I was horrified by the fact that I would have to come out on air. So I took Mounjaro."

Despite facing criticism from some who accused her of taking the drug away from diabetics, Hostin defended her use, citing the shame associated with weight gain and the positive impact Mounjaro had on her health, including lowering her cholesterol.

The discussion highlighted the controversial nature of obesity drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic, which have become popular for weight loss but have also caused shortages for those who rely on them for diabetes management.
