According to Variety, there was no filming at the time of the accident, and the production is now halted for the day. Marvel sent condolences in a statement that read, "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident."

IATSE president Matthew D. Loeb also issued a statement. Calling the crew member's death a "tragic loss," he said, "Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member's family, and his fellow members and colleagues."

"Wonder Man" stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen who will portray Simon Williams a.k.a. Wonder Man. The upcoming show will also see Ben Kingsley reprising his "Iron Man 3" role of Trevor Slattery.

In the comic books, Simon Williams is depicted as the son of a wealthy industrialist whose company, Williams Innovations, is run out of business due to competition from Stark Industries. As he's desperate, Simon turns to Baron Zemo, who gives Simon superpowers and directs him to infiltrate and then betray the Avengers. He eventually joins the Avengers and becomes the founding member of the spin-off team, the West Coast Avengers.

"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton is developing "Wonder Man" with Andrew Guest ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine", "Community") serving as the head writer as part of Cretton's overall deal with Marvel Studios and Onyx Collective. Marvel and Disney+ have yet to reveal the premiere date for "Wonder Man".
