Swifties suspect that 'The Tortured Poets Department' may be a nod to the pop superstar's former boyfriend's group chat with his buddies Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott.

AceShowbiz - Internet sleuths are once again working hard to decipher a possible Easter egg after Taylor Swift announced her new album "The Tortured Poets Department". Shortly after she broke the news at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, fans have found an alleged tie between the album's title to Joe Alwyn.

Many suspected that the title of the upcoming album is a savage nod to the singer's former boyfriend's group chat with his actor buddies Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott. The group chat itself was called "The Tortured Men's Club".

"JOES GROUPCHAT [sic] W PAUL WAS CALLED THE TORTURED MENS CLUB," one Swiftie pointed out on X, formerly Twitter. Another remarked, "apparently, joe and paul mescal's whatsapp gc was called 'the tortured mens club' LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO."

"tortured man club group chat lighting up i fear," a third fan speculated, while another commented, "I knew that taylor swift's new album name sounded a little too familiar." A fifth person enthused, "oh she's wild for this LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO."

Some others theorized that Taylor may not be done singing about the end of her romance with Joe and will be spilling tea about their past relationship in her next album. "I'm actually so obsessed with the concept of this album already," one person shared. " 'All's fair in love and poetry' is giving 'you treated me the way you did and it's fair game for me to write about it.' "

The fans referred to a message that Taylor penned when revealing her album cover on Instagram. "And so I enter into evidence/ My tarnished coat of arms/ My muses, acquired like bruises/ My talismans and charms/ The tick, tick, tick of love bombs/ My veins of pitch black ink," it read. She ended the note with, "All's fair in love and poetry. Sincerely, The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department."

Taylor announced her upcoming album at the Sunday, February 4 ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. When accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for "Midnights" which marks her 13th Grammy, she said in her speech, "I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans."

"So I want to say 'thank you' to the fans by telling you a secret that I've been keeping from you for the last two years," she added, "which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. It's called 'The Tortured Poets Department'. I'm gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you! I love you!"
