After the 'Isn't She Lovely?' crooner presents the 'My All' songstress with a trophy onstage, the Global Impact Award recipient appears to ignore the blind artist who is about to hand her out a mic.

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey's career was celebrated by the Grammys at The Black Music Collective (BMC) soiree, but the moment has been tarnished by her alleged rude gesture to Stevie Wonder. The R&B diva has been dragged online for seemingly ignoring the blind artist on stage.

On Thursday, February 1, Stevie was on hand to present one of the Global Impact Awards to Mariah. In footage circulating online from the event, the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" hitmaker accepted the trophy from Stevie who was standing behind his piano.

Things went awkward a bit as Mariah was seemingly eager to move to the center stage and deliver her speech while Stevie was trying to grab a mic and hand it to the 54-year-old singer. Once Stevie stretched his hand out with the mic, Mariah was no longer there beside him.

It took a few seconds for a stagehand to realize the awkward situation and seemingly let him know that Mariah didn't need the mic. Meanwhile, the "My All" songstress proceeded with her speech without looking back at Stevie who was still standing behind him, before he was escorted off the stage by the stagehand.

Upon seeing the video of the moment, many called Mariah out for seemingly ignoring Stevie. "Why she ain't help him," one person asked. Another wondered, "Did she forget he was blind?" A baffled person wrote, "Does she know he even there smh."

A fourth person claimed, "now she too busy trynna get to the mic n talk, stevie trynna be a gentleman." Someone assumed, "Mariah Carey said OK thank you move along OK you can leave now." A sixth critic penned, "You can tell when people are self-centered. Not noticing what's happening around them. Too focused on their own thoughts and feelings. He's still there! Right behind you, ma'am!"

Another Instagram user slammed Mariah as saying, "Mariah was wrong as hell for that." Another remarked, "He was thinking about her but she wasn't thinking about him. I don't like this." Someone else claimed, "I know Stevie's cussing the HELL outta her in his damn head."

However, some people have come to Mariah's defense. "Mariah didn't push his hand off. She was trying to kind of grab it and he was taking his hand down," one person tried to explain. "And she probably assumed that since she was supposed to move forward to speak that one of the staff behind them would assist him. That is what they are there for."

"Yall assumed all of these different scenarios all from this small clip yeah the internet is insane she didn't mean no harm at all to Stevie," another supporter claimed. Someone else argued, "Yall ain't right she ain't mean it that way 2 legends havin a moment."

Mariah indeed acknowledged Stevie in her speech. She also gave the "Superstition" singer a shout-out in her Instagram post that featured their picture together at the event. "Thank you @recordingacademy @blackmusiccollective @harveymasonjr for the #BMCHonors Global Impact Award. This celebration was so powerful and beautiful. I think I cried about 3 times, Thank you @steviewonderlegacy, @babyface, @torikelly, @yolandaadams and @bustarhymes - you are all so incredibly talented and made last night so special for me," she captioned the post.
