Revealing his 'very unexpected challenges' in 2023, the 70-year-old singer is grateful that his surgery went successful, but he will be taking a break from touring while recuperating at home.

AceShowbiz - Michael Bolton has to slow down in the beginning of 2024. The singer/songwriter reveals that he was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the end of 2023 which required "immediate surgery" just before the holidays.

The Grammy Award winner opened up about his medical issue in a Facebook post uploaded on Friday, January 5. He began his message to his followers, "I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges."

"Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery," the pop rock star shared. Informing his fans that the surgery went successful, he continued, "Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family."

The health setback, however, forced Michael to take a break from touring for an unspecified time while he's recovering at home. "For the next couple of months, I will be devoting my time and energy to my recovery which means I'll have to take a temporary break from touring," he said, before apologizing to his devotees, "It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon."

"I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years. Know that I'm keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I'll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always, MB," so the 70-year-old musician concluded his post.

According to his website, Michael was expected to kick off his tour in February with shows throughout 2024. After a successful career in the music industry, he explained last year that he found the most joy in his family life. "I'm filled with more love and pride in my girls as they raise their own families," he told PEOPLE. "The people I love bring me a lot of happiness… The important things never really change. Love is the most important thing, the center of the universe. There's nothing greater."
