AceShowbiz - Kelly Oubre Jr. has become a victim of a hit-and-run accident. The Philadelphia 76ers guard reportedly suffered a broken rib after he was struck by a motor vehicle over the weekend, but he was already discharged from the hospital.

The incident took place at around 7.20 P.M. on Saturday, November 11. The 27-year-old athlete was reportedly walking near his Philadephia residence when a vehicle traveling in his same direction "at a high rate of speed" tried to turn south onto the street he was crossing. Police claimed the vehicle, described as a silver color car, hit him "in the upper chest area with the driver-side mirror."

"Kelly Oubre Jr. was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle tonight in Center City, Philadelphia. He is currently in stable condition and being treated at a local hospital," the 76ers said in a statement. "We will share more information as it becomes available. Please join us in sending our best to Kelly and his family as he recovers from the incident."

Aside from broken ribs, Kelly has several bruises and cuts, according to The Athletic. The basketball player was taken to a hospital in stable condition and was released just hours later.

Kelly originally entered the NBA as a first-round draft pick in 2015 for the Atlanta Hawks before he was traded to the Washington Wizards. In 2022, he had a career year with the Charlotte Hornets.

Recently, Kelly opened up about his exit from the Charlotte Hornets in free agency. "(Free agency was very disheartening. I guess my efforts felt as if they were a little unappreciated. I had to take tat on the chin," he shared in an interview with senior lead NBA insider for The Athletic Shams Charania. "You would think averaging 20, having career years and things like that would be enough but it wasn't."

Now that he's a part of the Philadelphia 76ers, Kelly said, "Coming into this new opportunity and see how much they put into the team, into the players." He added, "I really feel like I'm finally in the NBA now."
