The 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards was supposed to be held in Paris, France, on November 5 with the likes of Ozuna, Renee Rapp and 30 Seconds to Mars being scheduled to perform.

AceShowbiz - The MTV Europe Music Awards has canceled this year's ceremony amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. In a statement shared on social media, organizers said the award show will return in November 2024.

"Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life," read the statement posted on Thursday, October 19.

"The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration," it added. "With thousands of lives already lost, it is a moment of mourning."

The 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards was supposed to be held in Paris on November 5. The likes of Ozuna, Renee Rapp and 30 Seconds to Mars were among the performers.

Last year's MTV EMAs, which took place in Dusseldorf, Germany, saw Taylor Swift become a big winner. She collected a total of four gongs from the annual awards ceremony including Best Artist, Best Pop, as well as both Best Video and Best Longform Video for "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)".

Taylor's fellow superstar Nicki Minaj was awarded Best Song for her hit "Super Freaky Girl" and Best Hip Hop. Meanwhile, former One Direction singer Harry Styles won Best Live.

Among those who performed at the event was the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra, which arrived to give a performance of "Stefania" in support of their country amid Russia's invasion. The arena lights were switched to blue and yellow while three women from the war-torn country received the MTV EMA Generation Change Award.
