AceShowbiz - Martha Stewart has insisted on defying age-appropriate dressing. After sharing photos of her wearing a slit dress, the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model declared that she doesn't dress up "for one's age."

The 82-year-old entrepreneur opened up about her choice of style when she hit the red carpet at the Fashion Group International Night of Stars gala on Tuesday, October 17. Speaking to Page Six, she asked, "Dressing for whose age?" She went on to point out, "I don't think about age."

On the reason why, the "Entertaining" author explained, "I think people are more and more and more [fabulous] than there ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them." She further claimed, "I've dressed the same since I was 17. If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same."

Martha appeared on the red carpet of the annual event, which took place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan, New York, with fashion designer Dennis Basso. She was in attendance to present Dennis with his Lifetime Achievement Award.

Martha, who appeared youthful in an all-white ensemble consisting of an unbuttoned sparkling long-sleeved blazer and long dress with a plunging neckline, spoke to Footwear News about "her favorite moment" in Dennis' designs. "It's tonight. I've never had a sparkly suit by Dennis Basso before," she marveled.

The former teen model sported the slit dress a few days prior. On Friday, October 13, she uploaded a series of photos capturing her shimmering look via Instagram. In the snaps, she looked confident in a glittery knee-length silver dress that came with an upper-thigh high slit on one of her legs and two long balloon sleeves.

The TV personality added a pair of silver pearl-drop earrings and silver open-toe high heels to match with her sizzling gown. In the photos, she appeared natural with her makeup and pink lipstick. Her light blonde shoulder-length tresses were styled into a simple straight hairdo while her bangs were parted to the side.

Along with the pictures, Martha wrote in the caption of the post, "Fun to dress up every now and then," and offered details about her "versatile" dress which was designed by Andy Chia Yu. She was later showered with praise by Instagram users, including one who exclaimed in the comments section, "Martha still out here slaying!! You are gorgeous!! The epitome of style and grace mixed with fire and sass!!"
