AceShowbiz - Sir Elton John couldn't be more grateful for having "magnificent" fans throughout his career. When performing in his final tour stop at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, the "Cold Heart" singer expressed his gratitude to those who have supported him.

"I've had the most wonderful career, beyond belief. 52 years of pure joy playing music, how lucky am I to play music? But I wouldn't be sitting here if it wasn't for you," the-year-old said at the Saturday, July 8 show, per The Independent. "You bought the singles, albums and CDs and more importantly you bought the tickets to the shows and you know how I love to play live."

"It's been my lifeblood to play for you guys and you've been absolutely magnificent – thank you," the British musician continued. "I will never forget you guys. I've played so many concerts, how could I forget? You're in my head, and my heart and my soul and I thank you so much."

Meanwhile, in a post-show statement, Elton emphasized, "Every step of the way, my fans have been there." He further noted, "They have stuck with me, they have supported me, they have been patient, and they have kept turning out for every single last show."

"Tonight has been magical. I'm trying to process it, and I don't think it will sink in for a while yet that I'm finally finished touring," the five-time Grammy winner gushed. "I can't tell you how much I'm going to miss the fans and how much their support has humbled me - it will stay with me forever."

During the final stop on the tour, which spanned more than 330 dates Elton performed for two and a half hours. He also received a special message from Coldplay's Chris Martin via live video-link from Copenhagen.

"Elton, we wanna say, from all of us here, from all the bands and all the artists that you've loved and inspired and helped, we just love you so much," Chris said. "We love you so much. Happy retirement and we're going to miss you so much, man."
