AceShowbiz - Honey Boo Boo's father has turned to Lamar Odom for help. Seeking recovery from his drug addiction, Sugar Bear, whose real name is Mike Thompson, was revealed to be expected to start his rehab treatment at one of the former NBA star's rehabilitation facilities.
Sources who claimed to be close to Sugar told TMZ that he approached Lamar about attending one of his treatment centers in Kansas. He is set to check into the Gold Bridge Treatment Center in Louisburg, which is associated with the Odom Recovery Group, on Thursday evening, July 6.
On the reason why Mike had drug addiction, TMZ was informed that the 51-year-old began taking prescription medicines as part of his diabetic therapy. What made matters worse, he was also alleged to suffer from severe depression and anxiety.
Sources revealed to the outlet that Mike met Lamar back in the summer of 2022 through their managers. Ever since their meeting, the two have become good friends, leading Mike to approach Lamar when he needed help to recover from his addiction.
Mike was further unraveled by the sources to plan on finding ways to fix his relationship with Honey Boo Boo, a.k.a Alana Thompson, after he completes his recovery program. The sources spilled that the father and daughter duo have not been in a good relationship for more than a year.
Mike's rehab report came more than one month after he went missing from Alana's graduation. In May, Alana graduated from Wilkinson County High School in McIntyre, Georgia. Congratulating her on her achievement was her sister Lauryn Efird who wrote in an Instagram post, "To say im proud would be an understatement."
"To be there a witness this next chapter I'm amazed at how much you've grown, how beautiful your soul is, and most importantly how far youve come against all odds. To hear your name be called and to watch you walk im honored truly," Lauryn continued. "I cant wait to see what this next chapter in your life holds. Please always know im your biggest fan and always and forever gonna be screaming the loudest for you. I love you lana (sic)!"
