Despite being the new men's creative director at the high-end brand, the 'Happy' hitmaker claims that the tag will always belong to the 'Gold Digger' emcee.

AceShowbiz - Pharrell Williams defends Kanye West's title as the "Louis Vuitton Don". Despite being the new men's creative director at the high-end brand, the "Happy" hitmaker claims that the tag will always belong to the "Donda" artist.

In a video following Pharrell's debut show with the fashion house, Swizz Beatz could be seen making an introduction for the men of the hour. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is my brother, Pharrell. The Don. The Louis Vuitton don," Swizz said.

In response to the comment, Pharrell was quick to correct Swizz. "Nah nah nah nah," he said. "Pupil king, I'm a student. Louis Vuitton Don is the one, great Kanye West. Period. That's the Louis Vuitton Don. I'm the pupil king, I'm forever the student."

The clip also saw Swizz asking Pharrell how he's feeling following his debut Louis Vuitton show. "I'm electrified with gratitude," Pharrell admitted. "My appointment in this position is a tribute to our brother Virgil. God is the greatest."

Pharrell was chosen as the creative director of Louis Vuitton following the death of Virgil Abloh. Ye previously admitted that he felt "jealousy" when Virgil was appointed for the position. "No one knows I'd been offered the deal by Bernard Arnault," Ye said last October in an interview with French outlet Clique TV. "No one knows the deal was pulled. I used to call myself the 'Louis Vuitton Don.' "

"Three months after that, they dropped the deal," he shared. After Ye's deal fell apart, Louis Vuitton named Virgil the creative director of its men's line. The embattled rapper claimed that it made him feel "a lot of pain and jealousy."

Pharrell, meanwhile, had a successful debut with the Men's Spring-Summer 2024 Collection during Paris Fashion Week. The show featured A-list stars, including Jay-Z, Beyonce Knowles, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Megan Thee Stallion, LeBron James and Kim Kardashian in attendance.
