The former 'Jon and Kate Plus 8' star, who was married to Kate from 1999 to 2009, says he's 'relieved that court is over and I can focus on rebuilding my relationships with my children.'

AceShowbiz - Jon Gosselin is ready for what the future has to offer after the end of his custody battle with Kate Gosselin. When speaking about the matter, the former "Jon & Kate Plus 8" star said he's looking forward to a "new beginning" with his ex and their children.

"I am relieved that court is over and I can focus on rebuilding my relationships with my children who now live in North Carolina and New York," the 46-year-old told Us Weekly on Wednesday, May 3. "It's a very freeing feeling to not have to worry about lawsuits from Kate and really opens the door for me to reach out to my other children. I truly hope for the best."

"The kids are full grown adults and unfortunately we missed those opportunities when they were growing up," he continued. "With that said, there are many events coming up like the kids' graduations, and hopefully seeing my ex and my other children isn't awkward but instead a new beginning."

As for his co-parenting relationship with his ex, Joe declared that it is also over. "At this point the chance of coparenting with my ex has likely come to an end," he stated.

Jon's statements came after Kate was awarded full custody of their eight children. The former couple, who was married from 1999 to 2009, shares 22-year-old twins Mady and Cara, as well as sextuplets Alexis, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Leah and Aaden, who are turning 19 on May 10.

Hannah and Collin, however, chose to stay with their father in 2018 and he hadn't been in touch with the other six kids. In 2022, Kate reportedly sued Jon for $132,875 in child support but the case was dismissed by August 2022.
