In a new interview, the Puerto Rican rapper/actor says the Sony Pictures movie titled 'El Muerto' has not been filmed yet with only eight months left before its planned release for early January.

AceShowbiz - A new Spider-Man spin-off starring Bad Bunny is stalled. The Puerto Rican musician, born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, has given a disappointing update on the Sony Pictures movie, which is titled "El Muerto".

The "Dakiti" hitmaker has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming superhero movie, but he now appears to be unsure if he will appear in the film. In a new interview with Time Magazine, he "feigned confusion" when asked about the movie.

The 29-year-old, who has been rumored to be dating Kendall Jenner, said no filming had yet taken place though it's only eight months left before the movie's planned release date on January 12, 2024.

His publicist said that the movie was "at a standstill," before quickly clarifying that it's "in development." Bad Bunny, meanwhile, joked that the studio may opt for "The Last of Us" actor Pedro Pascal to play the lead role instead of him, saying, "Maybe they'll switch me out for Pedro Pascal."

"El Muerto" was announced at CinemaCon during Sony's panel back in April 2022. Sony Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch broke the news and revealed the release date, while Bad Bunny also made a surprise appearance. "To bring El Muerto to life is just incredible .. so exciting," he told the crowd.

The "Mia" singer will star as El Muerto, Marvel's first live-action Latino lead in the movie. The character, known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, is described as a wrestler whose powers are handed down by ancestry in the form of a mask.

In the comics, El Muerto has squared off with Spider-Man in the ring. It was reported that the upcoming movie will depict the character as an antihero on the verge of inheriting his father's power.

While Bad Bunny is widely known for his musical works, he isn't new to acting. He made his acting debut in "F9: The Fast Saga" as Lookout and landed a recurring role on "Narcos: Mexico" as Arturo "Kitty" Paez. He also starred alongside Brad Pitt in "Bullet Train".
