Words are Netflix has greenlit two sequels of the big-budgeted heist film with director-writer Rawson Marshall Thurber also returning and currently penning the scripts.

AceShowbiz - "Red Notice" won't get a ban from Netflix anytime soon. In fact, the streaming giant is so fond of it as the company has reportedly given a green light to two sequels of the movie starring Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Gal Gadot.

According to Deadline, there are plans, which are currently still in early stages, to film the two new movies back-to-back. The hope is reportedly to begin production in 2023. That, of course, depends on the deals and availability of the busy stars.

Director-writer Rawson Marshall Thurber is also expected back on the double duty as he has begun writing the scripts. He will also return as producer alongside Johnson, Hiram Garcia and Dany Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions, Beau Flynn and Scott Sheldon of Flynn Pictures Co. and Thurber via Bad Version Productions.

Netflix is keeping its silence on the rumored back-to-back sequels shoot, but sources say the streamer eyes an "Ocean's Eleven"-style franchise by adding new characters to flesh out a heist-film ensemble. There's still no word on who may be joining the original stars for their next epic heists.

"Red Notice" follows FBI agent John Hartley (Johnson), who reluctantly teams up with a renowned art thief, Nolan Booth (Reynolds), in order to catch an even more notorious criminal, Sarah Black a.k.a. The Bishop (Gadot).

The film holds an average 37% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but viewers didn't seem to mind the mostly negative reviews. In a stark contrast, the movie received movie a 92% audience rating over at the website.

Released in November 2021 on limited theaters before streaming on Netflix, it has clocked 328.8 million viewing hours, beating the record previously held by Sandra Bullock's 2018 thriller "Bird Box" at 282 million, according to Netflix's internal metrics.
