Words are the 'Pillowtalk' singer took it 'as a hit to his ego' when the former 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star stepped in to help care for her granddaughter every time Gigi Hadid was away for work.

AceShowbiz - New details of Zayn Malik and Yolanda Hadid's dispute have surfaced, days after news of their row made headlines. According to the new report, the former One Direction member thought the mother of Gigi Hadid was "crossing a boundary" with her attempt to care for her grandchild.

As reported before and echoed by a source to HollywoodLife.com, "Gigi was out of town working Paris Fashion Week when this incident between Yolanda and Zayn happened." The source explains, "As everyone knows, Yolanda has always been a very hands on, dedicated parent to her kids. She's naturally protective and has been there for every step of the way when it comes to her kid's lives. So naturally, when Gigi was away while working, she wanted to spend as much time helping care for her granddaughter as possible."

However, "Zayn took this as a hit to his ego because he knows he's fully capable of caring for his own child," the source continues, before noting, "Yolanda meant no harm, it's just that she loves her granddaughter with all her heart and will step in at any time to ensure she's cared for."

"It wasn't a diss at Zayn, it's more just in her nature to step in when it comes to those things," the source stresses. Unfortunately, "Zayn saw it as her crossing a boundary and that's what erupted into their argument."

As to how Gigi's siblings Bella Hadid and Anwar Hadid reacted to the incident, the source says, "Bella and Anwar will stand by their mom no matter what." In fact, "they've both unfollowed Zayn because they completely support their mom and absolutely believe her account of what happened," the source adds.

It was alleged that Zayn struck Gigi's mom Yolanda during an argument earlier in October when the 57-year-old model visited the then-couple's home while Gigi was away. The British singer denied that he ever laid a hand on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum, though he eventually pled no contest to the four criminal charges of harassment against him.

He said he did not contest the assault allegations in order to "restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves." He has been fined for the harassment and is on 90 days' probation for each count, making a total of 360 days. He will also have to complete an anger management class, and a domestic violence program.

Zayn and Gigi reportedly broke up following the incident.
