Some fans argue that the song, which was from Destiny's Child’s 2004 album 'Destiny Fulfilled', is a song that glorifies slavery, prompting them to launch a petition to cancel the hit.

AceShowbiz - Destiny's Child's hit song "Cater 2 U" has been the talk of the town as some fans try to get it canceled, labelling it as a "slave song." The group's member Michelle Williams (II) apparently caught wind of the online petition and took to Instagram to respond to it in a hilarious video.

In the June 13 post, the singer shared a clip featuring what appears to be her alter ego, Merleen. "My name is Merleen and I just read that y'all wanna cancel the song 'Cater 2 U' by Destiny's Child," Michelle said while using a silly filter for her video.

"Oh honey, you didn't discern who you were catering to and you gave your lil pearls to swine, don't be mad at Destiny's Child. Uh uh," she went on to say.

Some fans argued that the song, which was from Destiny’s Child’s 2004 album "Destiny Fulfilled", is a song that glorifies slavery. "The slavery description in 'Cater 2 U' by Destiny's Child? 'My life would be purposeless without you If I want it (you got it) When I ask you (you proved it)," one Twitter user wrote. Echoing the sentiment, someone else tweeted, "destiny's child was really singing bout slavery on cater 2 u."

Some other fans, however, were against the cancelation. "Yall really out here tryna cancel Cater 2 U because it talks about taking care of your man????? Because it talks about showing him appreciatio for taking of you???" a confused fan wrote. "Nobody's trying to cancel cater 2 u. Y'all sound so damn silly people are just making jokes. Sensitive af. That's a forever bop."

"Not y'all trying to cancel Destiny's Child's 'Cater 2 U' because the men you give the time of day to ain't worth a damn. Cater y'all self-esteem, beloveds," another fan chimed it. "People are really signing a petition to cancel 'Cater 2 U' because they said it's a 'slave song' & women are bothered .... & that's why y'all can't keep a man," read another comment.

Another person also thought that canceling the song was nonsense. "Can't cancel the classics. Cater 2 U still a bop and imma treat my person like that for sureee but only WHEN I find that deserving person. Ladies need to stop settling for f**k n***as and realize it's okay to be single until the right person comes along," the person opined.
