Along with the debut of 'Solar Power', the 'Green Light' singer shares details about her third studio album and the meaning behind her new materials since 2017's 'Melodrama'.

AceShowbiz - Pop star Lorde has celebrated the only solar eclipse of 2021 by dropping her new single and sharing details of her third album.

The singer teased the release of "Solar Power", her first new material since 2017's "Melodrama", earlier this week (beginning June 7), and on Thursday, June 10, she debuted the song, which will serve as the title track for her upcoming project of the same name.

The New Zealand-born musician shared the news of the "Solar Power" album in a newsletter to her fans, explaining she was inspired by the "natural world".

She began, "There's someone I want you to meet. Her feet are bare at all times. She's sexy, playful, feral, and free."

"She's a modern girl in a deadstock bikini, in touch with her past and her future, vibrating at the highest level when summer comes around. Her skin is glowing, her lovers are many. I'm completely obsessed with her, and soon you will be too."

"It's my divine pleasure to be introducing you, at long last, to my third studio album, 'SOLAR POWER'."

Lorde went on to offer details about the deeper meaning behind the new tunes.

"The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I'm outdoors," she explained.

"In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I've learned to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through."

"The first song, also called 'SOLAR POWER' and written and produced by myself and Jack [Antonoff], is the first of the rays," Lorde shared. "It's about that infectious, flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all, come June..."

The star revealed the album was a collaboration between the musician and her closest friends, including her "best mate Ophelia", who was recruited to shoot the cover art, while she has been busy helping to build "an entire cinematic universe that I can't wait for you to see."

"I made something that encapsulates where I'm from - my family, my girlfriends, my outdoors, my constant ruminations, and my unending search for the divine [sic]," she added.

The "Royals" hitmaker hopes fans will use the album as their soundtrack to the summer, and she concluded the announcement by tying it all in to Thursday's annular solar eclipse.

"Today's the only solar eclipse of the year, did you know that? Feels right," she wrote.

A release date for album has yet to be announced.
