Based on John Jackson Miller's 2013 novel titled 'Kenobi', the upcoming series will explore Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi's life while hiding on the planet Tatooine.

AceShowbiz - Liam Neeson has spoken up about rumors that he will be appearing on the upcoming "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series on Disney+. Much to fans' disappointment, the actor dispelled the rumors during his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Thursday, June 10.

During the interview, host Jimmy Kimmel asked the Oscar-winning actor, who plays Qui-Gon Jinn in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace", if he had "Star Wars" TV shows up his sleeve. "Because Obi-Wan Kenobi is in progress right now and I'm wondering if you're going to be on that," Jimmy asked.

"I heard Ewan McGregor was gonna do a series. No, I don't think so," Liam responded. "No, I haven't been approached." The "Taken" actor then insinuated that Disney couldn't afford him as he continued, "They don't have enough money."

In the movie, Qui-Gon met his ends at the hands of Darth Maul. However, it is not impossible for the character to appear as there are precedents in which deceased characters, including Ewan's Obi-Wan, return to the "Star Wars" universe. Considering the fact, Jimmy noted, "You're such a good actor. You could easily be lying and we would have no idea."

"Obi-Wan Kenobi" is based on novel "Kenobi" which was published in 2013. Written by John Jackson Miller, the book explores Obi-Wan's life while hiding on the planet Tatooine where he attempts to commune with his deceased master through the Force. The planned project will offer fans with a look at Jedi's life10 years after the events of "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" in which he brought baby Luke Skywalker to Tatooine.

Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Darth Vader with Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse playing as Luke's adoptive parents. Also joining the cast for the show are Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. "The Mandalorian" director Deborah Chow has been tapped to serve behind the lens.
