Months after the 'I'm Just Me' singer lost his battle with COVID-19, Texas police officer Tyler Pride is fighting for a share of the late country crooner's fortune by insisting that he is his biological son.

AceShowbiz - A Texas police officer is disputing the will of country singer Charley Pride, claiming he's the late star's biological son.

Pride lost his battle with COVID-19 in December 2020, aged 86, and now Tyler Pride, 41, is fighting for a share of the singer's fortune.

Dallas Morning News sources claim the star left a will that acknowledged his three children from his marriage to Rozene Pride - his widow, who serves as the executor of his will - but court records suggest a 1992 DNA test proved Charley was Tyler's father.

Lawmakers ordered Tyler's name to be legally changed to Tyler Pride and told the singer to pay $92,000 (£65,200) in back child support to Tyler's mother, Joyce Ann Tines. He was also ordered to pay her $4,000 (£2,800)-a-month going forward.

The plaintiff claims his mother met Pride on an airplane flight when she was working as a flight attendant and they had an affair that lasted for a decade. "He loved her," he states. "They loved each other. It was not a casual affair."

Rozene Pride reportedly found out about the affair - and her husband's son - and forced Charley to cease visiting his kid.

Tyler claims nobody told him his father was ill and he was discouraged from attending the funeral.

Rozene tells the Dallas Morning News it's "heartbreaking" for her husband's lovechild to "try to tarnish Charley's reputation and break Charley's estate plan in the hope of getting more money for himself," adding he "only called Charley when he wanted money."

Meanwhile, Tyler has also obtained a restraining order against his mother, preventing her from seeing his children. He claims she stalked him and his children for a decade and accused her of both emotional and physical abuse.

Rozene tells the publication Tyler sent her a draft of his lawsuit and threatened to file it if she did not meet his demands, adding, "That shows how little he knew about his father, because Charley would never be bullied and neither will I."
