The 'Narcos: Mexico' star, who has been cast in the 'Black Panther' sequel, is reportedly set to play Namor the Sub-Mariner, an Atlantean anti-hero who is the mutant son of a human sea captain and a princess of Atlantis.

AceShowbiz - A beloved Marvel character is reported to make a debut in upcoming "Black Panther" film. While details of the project have been kept under wraps, new juicy tidbit has revealed that "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" will feature Namor the Sub-Mariner.

According to The Illuminerdi, Tenoch Huerta, who has been previously cast for the sequel, is expected to portray this Atlantean antihero as the "Black Panther 2" villain. The same report mentions that Namor will appear alongside Namora, Namor's cousin, and Attuma, an Atlantean warlord, in the movie.

First introduced in "Marvel Comics #1", Namor is also considered the first antihero in comic books. He is the mutant son of a human sea captain and a princess of the mythical undersea kingdom of Atlantis whose superhuman powers come from the fact that he is a hybrid of human and Atlantean DNA.

He is often portrayed as a short-tempered superhero and an antagonist attacking the surface dwellers who he perceives as wronging his kingdom and people. Namor and Atlantis have a long history with Wakanda and T'Challa in the comics, with Angelina Jolie-starrer "Eternals" being said to set up the arrival of Atlantis in the MCU.

While nothing has been confirmed, fans couldn't help weighing in on the possible appearance of Namor in "Black Panther 2". "I hope this is true. He will be brilliant as Namor. Also numerous paths back for Killmonger," one person reacted to the news. Another added, "If Namor gonna be in Black Panther 2 I would like to see the sinking of Atlantis in the Eternals movie to set him up."

"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is currently set for a July 8, 2022 release. Ryan Coogler is set to return as director, while Shuri (Letitia Wright), T'Challa's sister, is said to have a more prominent role following Chadwick Boseman's (T'Challa depicter) untimely passing.
