AceShowbiz - Lady GaGa just got special tributes to mark a major milestone of "Born This Way". When celebrating the 10th anniversary of her 2011 self-acceptance anthem, the singer was awarded with a key to the city of West Hollywood.

To mark the occasion on Sunday, May 23, West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath also declared May 23 "Born This Way Day". Additionally, Lindsey unveiled a street painting featuring the album and the song's title as a pride flag on Robertson Boulevard, right outside the legendary Los Angeles gay bar The Abbey. In a statement, the Mayor told GaGa, "Thank you for encouraging us to love ourselves and be proud!"

After receiving the tributes in a ceremony, the "A Star Is Born" actress expressed her gratitude in a speech by stating, "Thank you for this key." She then told her fans, "You've been the motherf**king key to my heart for the long time. I'll honour this, I'll cherish this and I promise that I'll always be here for this day. To be here for this day, to celebrate with you, to feel joy with you, to cry with you, to laugh with you."

GaGa also took to Instagram to share several pictures of herself from the event. One snap in particular saw her posing on the street painting as she rocked a baggy T-shirt, ripped fishnets and her signature platform boots.

In the caption, GaGa wrote, " 'Born This Way', my song and album, were inspired by Carl Bean, a gay black religious activist who preached, sung and wrote about being 'Born This Way.' " She further noted, "Notably his early work was in 1975, 11 years before I was born."

"Thank you for decades of relentless love, bravery, and a reason to sing. So we can all feel joy, because we deserve joy," the 35-year-old hitmaker continued. "Because we deserve the right to inspire tolerance, acceptance, and freedom for all."
