The Canadian rapper insists 'the truth will come to the light' after he was officially slapped with assault and gun charges following Megan Thee Stallion drama.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Tory Lanez is confident the "truth" about his shooting drama with Megan Thee Stallion will "come to light" after he was officially charged over the summer incident.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney filed one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle against Lanez on Thursday (08Oct20), charges for which the Canadian artist could face up to 22 years behind bars.

However, Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, has vowed to fight claims he was the one who shot at Megan back in July (20), when the pair clashed following a night out at a Hollywood Hills party, and left the Savage beauty requiring surgery on her feet.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Lanez used emojis as he posted, "(Time) will (tell) ... and the truth will come to the light ... I have all faith in God to show that ..."

Thanking followers for their support, he continued, "love to all my fans and people that have stayed true to me & know my heart," before stressing that he has yet to be found guilty.

"A charge is not a conviction," he declared, adding, "If you have supported me or meg thru this , I genuinely appreciate u (sic)."

He and Megan have been locked in a war of words ever since the summer incident after the Texas native confirmed Lanez was the gunman behind her injuries.

He went on to deny the accusations on his latest album, "Daystar", suggesting Megan made up the claims out of jealousy.

Lanez is scheduled to be arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court on 13 October.
