The 'Carol Burnett Show' star asks a judge to be granted the temporary guardianship of her 13-year-old grandson as the teen's mother is struggling with substance abuse.

AceShowbiz - Veteran comedienne Carol Burnett is seeking to be appointed the temporary guardian of her teenage grandson after his mother allegedly threatened to commit suicide.

The 87-year-old actress fears her singer daughter, Erin Hamilton, isn't capable of properly caring for Dylan, 13, due to her longrunning struggles with substance abuse.

In legal papers obtained by The Blast, Burnett's lawyer states, "Throughout her adult life, and since Dylan's birth, Erin has suffered from severe substance abuse and addiction issues. In the past 19 years, Erin has been in and out of rehabilitation centers and has been institutionalized a total of eight times for a minimum of 30 days each time."

The "Carol Burnett Show" star claims her family had to call on Los Angeles Police Department officials to complete a wellness check on the 52 year old last month (Jul20), while Erin recently raised further concerns by threatening to take her own life.

The funnywoman is requesting to be granted temporary guardianship of Dylan so she and her third husband, Brian Miller, can provide him with the care and support he needs, as the child's father is also not in a position to help at present.

"Dylan's father recently checked himself into rehab and is unable to provide for his son," reads the court documents.

"Dylan's living environment has long been unstable, unpredictable, and unhealthy for a child. This culminated in a Department of Children and Family Services investigation and juvenile dependency proceedings in 2018 and 2019."

Burnett reveals she has already had Dylan enrolled in a top boarding school, where he has so far been thriving - and she hopes to keep it that way.

The papers continue, "Proposed Co-Guardians have always had a close relationship with Dylan and they have financially supported him for the entirety of his life. This financial support includes providing for his medical insurance, dental insurance, educational needs, as well as his basic living and housing expenses."

A ruling on the motion has yet to be made.

Erin is the youngest of Burnett's three daughters with her second husband, late TV producer Joe Hamilton.
