The 'Midsommar' actress explains why she's reluctant to enter a romantic relationship with men her own age following criticisms over her relationship with older boyfriend Zach Braff.

AceShowbiz - Florence Pugh has defended the age-gap between her and boyfriend Zach Braff as healthy, insisting her relationships with men her own age "haven't worked out."

The 24-year-old slammed trolls who criticised her for dating Zach, 45, back in April (20) and has now opened up about why she's happy with an older man - even if it attracts negative comments.

Speaking to British broadcaster Sue Perkins on her "An Hour or So With" podcast, Florence blasted those who had targeted her as a young woman and made her "feel like s**t" for following her heart when she had struggled to date men her own age.

"Once again, it's making a young woman feel like s**t for no reason," she explained. "I think I did feel s**t for a while for admitting that, and then I thought how ridiculous is that? I'm 24 and I can't choose who I love."

"There's a reason why I'm not with someone my age - it hasn't worked, so who are you trying to match me up with?"

The "Midsommar" star, who was first spotted out with Zach in April 2019 after working with him on the short film "In the Time It Takes to Get There", also criticised the ownership fans feel they have over actresses' lives.

"I've always found it funny, how I can be good enough for people to watch my work and support my work and pay for tickets and I'm old enough to be an adult and pay taxes but I'm not old enough to know who I should and should not have sex with,' she said.

"Because I'm in the entertainment industry, those lines get very blurred. People just want to have a say on who you go out with, where you go for lunch. For me, I've always found that part of this life, even when I grew up watching actresses, I've always found that weird how people have a say over your private life."

"I'm not a reality TV star, I don't let people into my life like that so since when has it been OK for someone to shout at someone for their relationship?"
