After claiming that the system 'didn't really fit my life as a black kid from poverty,' the 'Imma Boss' hitmaker later clarifies that he doesn't mean to say 'you shouldn't go to school.'

AceShowbiz - Meek Mill seems to blame the social injustice on black people for the reason why he dropped out of school. The Philadelphia rapper, who is a leading advocate of criminal justice reform in the United States, has spoken up against "the American system" amid the Black Lives Matter movement on his Twitter post.

"I've never believed in the AMERICAN system," he tweeted on Tuesday, June 9, revealing how it led to his decision to chase his "own dreams," "I dropped out of school in the 10th grade and made millions at 22! The way they broke things down to me didn't really fit my life as a black kid from poverty so I took the risk of chasing my own dreams not the American dream!"

People soon weighed in on his tweet, with many saying that his message is bad for children who will think that he encourages them to not go to school. "This tweet is not healthy for kids," one person responded on Instagram. Another similarly commented, "This narrative is dangerous. Stay in school kids- education is POWER."

Realizing that his tweet could be misinterpreted, Meek then returned to Twitter to clarify his earlier remark. "Not saying you shouldn't go to school ... because if anything that was slowing me down it was lack of education! When I got caught in the system I knew I was behind and had to educate myself!" he tweeted again.
