The Mouse House has announced a $5 million donations to multiple organizations supporting the social justice efforts amid the unrest in the United States.

AceShowbiz - Disney bosses have pledge a $5 million donation to various non-profit organisations supporting social justice efforts.

In the wake of worldwide Black Lives Matter protests, following the killing of African-American man George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota, company officials announced the donation in a statement.

The money will be divided amongst numerous organisations, with $2 million going to the NAACP "to further their longstanding work promoting social justice by eliminating disparities and racial discrimination through their advocacy and education programs."

The company will also match employee donations to organisations through the Disney Employee Matching Gifts program.

"The killing of George Floyd has forced our nation to once again confront the long history of injustice that black people in America have suffered, and it is critical that we stand together, speak out, and do everything in our power to ensure that acts of racism and violence are never tolerated," Disney CEO Bob Chapek said in a statement.

"This $5 million pledge will continue to support the efforts of nonprofit organisations such as the NAACP that have worked tirelessly to ensure equality and justice."

Prior to announcing the donation, bosses issued a statement standing by the Black Lives Matter movement, reading, "We stand against racism. We stand for inclusion. We stand with our fellow Black employees, storytellers, creators and the entire Black community. We must unite and speak out."
