Musgraves and fellow singer Monet call for the ban of rubber bullets and urge fans to sign the petition after multiple Black Lives Matter protesters were injured by cops.

AceShowbiz - Country star Kacey Musgraves has joined singer Victoria Monet in calling for U.S. police officials to ban the use of rubber bullets after causing serious injuries to numerous protesters.

As Black Lives Matter activists continue to fight for an end to social injustice and racism across the U.S. in the wake of George Floyd's slaying in Minnesota at the hands of a white cop, authorities have been arming officers with rubber pellets to help break up any violence.

However, many demonstrators claim the bullets are almost as bad as real ammunition, especially since some police forces have used them on those protesting peacefully, and a petition has been launched on Change.org to demand action to ensure people's safety.

"There have been various occurrences where peaceful protesters have been shot with rubber bullets by the police, despite them doing nothing wrong to begin with," wrote organiser Viangelly Pena. "Multiple people have been majorly injured from these rubber bullets!"

"Rubber bullets can be extremely lethal," Pena continued. "They may cause bone fractures, injuries to internal organs, or even death. It's been proven that rubber and plastic bullets are too dangerous for crowd control and have even been banned in various regions including Kosovo and Catalonia."

Monet promoted the cause on her Twitter page on Monday, June 1, 2020, posting, "A petition to stop the use of these rubber bullets", and on Tuesday, Musgraves followed her lead and added her signature to the campaign.

"I signed," she tweeted, as she shared Monet's original link to the Change.org page, which had attracted more than 704,000 signatures by Wednesday.

Pop star Halsey recently revealed she had been helping those wounded by rubber bullets and tear gas after police opened fire on non-violent activists in Los Angeles over the weekend, while Insecure actor Kendrick Sampson, who was among those hit, showed off his bloody injuries on U.S. news show "Extra".

"I was shot seven times with rubber bullets...," he said, revealing he had been targetted in his chest and legs.

"Anywhere it hits you, like, skin comes off and bruising happens, and so anywhere it hits you, there is a lot of skin comes off, lots of blood."
