According to a report by the Office of the Medical Examiner, the 'Chernobyl Diaries' actor passed away from an accidental overdose following 'illicit drug abuse.'

AceShowbiz - "Chernobyl Diaries" star Dimitri Diatchenko died of an accidental fentanyl and valium overdose.

The actor's concerned relatives contacted police in Daytona Beach, Florida, last month, April 2020 after failing to hear back from their family member. Upon checking on Diatchenko, cops found him unresponsive at his home.

According to the Office of the Medical Examiner in the city, Diatchenko's official cause of death is listed as a combination of fentanyl and diazepam toxicity, with his passing recorded as an accident following "illicit drug abuse with prescription drug use."

The medical examiner also noted that Diatchenko suffered from an enlarged heart, known as cardiomegaly, and had moderate coronary artery disease.

While the screen star was recorded as having sustained a 220 volt electrocution at work several days prior to his death, the delayed arrhythmia from the shock was ultimately excluded as a cause of death, TMZ reported.

As well as starring in "Chernobyl Diaries", Diatchenko appeared in movies including "Get Smart" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".
