AceShowbiz - Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Baldwin are not staying quiet on speculations she has gone under the knife. Days after a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon claimed in a TikTok video that the model might have undergone several procedures on her face, the Hollywood couple served him with a cease and desist letter.
Through their legal team, the "Yummy" hitmaker and his wife threatened to sue Dr. Daniel Barrett for using the 23-year-old's "name, image and likeness" to "commercially advertise your plastic surgery practice and to spread false, uncorroborated claims that Mrs. Bieber has undergone plastic surgery." They warned him about a number of violations he made with his claims in the video.
"These flagrant and conscious infringements of our Clients' rights constitute a number of violations including, without limitation: misappropriation of name, likeness, image and persona for commercial purposes, misrepresentation, defamation, slander, false light, violation of rights of publicity, copyright infringement, trademark and service mark infringement, unfair competition, dilution, and interference with our Clients' contractual obligations to third parties," the letter obtained by E! News read.
The cease and desist further pointed out at the copyright infringement Dr. Barrett made by using lyrics to Justin's "Sorry" in the caption of his video. In it, the married couple demanded the doctor to take down the video and to issue a public statement retracting his claims within the next 24 hours.
Despite the legal action threat, Dr. Barrett insisted he did not aim to slander the daughter of Stephen Baldwin. "The purpose of my TikTok account is to increase the transparency of plastic surgery and to educate people about plastic surgery," he said in a statement to E! News.
"The purpose of the video was not to disparage Hailey Bieber in any way, the purpose of my video was to share my opinion about the procedures that I believed she may have had done based on photos alone," he elaborated. "This is at the request of many of my viewers who follow me for this type of information and for my opinion."
The problematic TikTok video itself sees Dr. Barrett comparing a 2011 photo of Hailey to a 2016 picture of her. He then asked viewers to "pay special attention to the nose," before asking, "What do you think? Well, I'll tell you what I think. I think it's physically impossible without getting a little bit of help from someone like myself to go from this picture to that picture."
Aside from suggesting that she has undergone rhinoplasty, the surgeon went on to imply that she might have also done a skin tightening procedure, jawline contouring and genioplasty. He additionally claimed that she might have gotten filler in her cheeks and lips.
