The 'Say So' hitmaker denies she's ever involved in racist conversations and addresses her 2015 song 'Dindu Nuffin' which title is deemed 'a pejorative term used to mock Blacks that commit crimes.'

AceShowbiz - Doja Cat has broken her silence after she landed in hot water over her involvement in TinyChat groups which are known to be racist. After people tried to cancel the singer by making #DojaIsOverParty trending on Twitter, she took to Instagram on Sunday, May 24 to address the allegations that she made racist comments in the right-wing online chat room.

"I want to address what's been happening on Twitter," she began her post. While she admitted to joining the said chat room, the "Juicy" hitmaker denied that she ever made racist comments. "I've used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn't have been on some of those chat room sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I'm sorry to everyone that I offended," she added.

Noting that she herself is "a black woman," she takes pride in her race as saying, "Half of my family is black from South Africa and I'm very proud of where I come from."

Doja also explained her 2015 song "Dindu Nuffin", which is deemed racist for its title. The title is a racial slur used by the alt-right members for people of color who state their innocence after being victims of police brutality.

"As for the old song that's resurfaced, it was in no way tied to anything outside of my own personal experience. It was written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me," she explained. "I made an attempt to flip its meaning, but recognize that it was a bad decision to use the term in my music."

"I understand my influence and impact and I'm taking this all very seriously," she continued, before apologizing for offending anyone, "I love you all and I'm sorry for upsetting or hurting any of you. That's not my character, and I'm determined to shot that to everybody moving forward. Thank you."

Not everyone, however, is taking Doja's apology. Accusing her of making excuses, one of those Instagram users responded to her statement, "She knew what she was doing when she join those racist chats." Another wrote, She's only sorry she got caught." Someone else added, "You were in racist chat rooms/sites but never participated in racist conversation? Doesnt even sound believable."
