Siliana Gaspard, the widow of the former WWE star, has been joined by a host of friends, family members and fans to pay homage to the 39-year-old at the site of his drowning.

AceShowbiz - Tragic wrestler Shad Gaspard has been remembered at a sunset memorial at the site of his drowning death.

The former WWE star's body washed up on Venice Beach, California early on Wednesday, May 20, three days after he and his 10-year-old son, Aryeh, were swept out to sea by a riptide on May 17.

Lifeguards had rushed to their rescue and focused on getting the boy to safety first, as requested by Gaspard, but when they returned, the athlete had disappeared.

On Friday evening, Gaspard's widow, Siliana, was joined by a host of friends, family members, and fans to pay homage to the 39-year-old at a service on Venice Beach, reports TMZ.

The memorial took place days after wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to Instagram to salute his late pal with a touching post.

Alongside a photo of the two stars, Johnson wrote, "This one hurts. Great guy. My deepest condolences and love to Shad Gaspard's wife, son and family."

"Shad drowned in the ocean, but not before instructing lifeguards to save his 10yr old son first. That's the love of a father."

"This is a tough one to process. Love and light to Shad's family. And your warrior spirit lives on through your son."
