The private couple, who were first linked romantically in 2016, have rumored to have gotten engaged in 2019 after she was seen wearing a new diamond ring while running errands.

AceShowbiz - A baby is likely to be on the way for Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix. Multiple reports have suggested that the Lisbeth Salander of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and the "Joker" star are expecting their first child together.

Page Six first reported that the younger sister of Kate Mara might be six months along in her pregnancy. Us Weekly corroborated the pregnancy claim by quoting a source as saying, "Rooney is about six months along." The source added, "Joaquin is great and has been accompanying her to appointments."

Representatives for both actors have not confirmed nor denied the pregnancy reports.

Rooney and Joaquin first worked together in 2013's movie "Her". The pair were linked romantically in late 2016 after they were reunited for the filming of "Mary Magdalene". In May 2017, they made their first public appearance as a couple as at the closing ceremony of Cannes Film Festival. Two years later, they sparked engagement rumors after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger.

While the couple were notoriously private, Joaquin confessed during a 2019 interview with Vanity Fair that he was convinced Rooney "despised him during the making of 'Her'." Of his 35-year-old partner, the 45-year-old actor said, "She's the only girl I ever looked up on the internet. We were just friends, email friends. I'd never done that. Never looked up a girl online."

In January 2020, when accepting the Best Actor in a Drama kudo at the 2020 Golden Globes, Joaquin gave a special shout-out to Rooney in his speech. "Somewhere here, I don't know where, is a filthy dragon, and I want to rip its wings off and fasten a blanket and sleep with it forever," he said while looking at her. "I love you."

Since the coronavirus broke out across the country, Rooney and Joaquin were said to be quietly quarantining at their Los Angeles home. The "Carol" actress, however, got out of self-isolation to celebrate her sister's first Mother's Day as new mother by bringing along a bouquet of flowers and a small gift bag when visiting her on May 10.
