The actor initially apologized for his old insulting tweets but later deleted it along with all of his past posts and claimed his social media was targeted by hacker(s).

AceShowbiz - "Outer Banks" star Chase Stokes took to Twitter on Monday night, May 18, 2020 to apologise for several insensitive tweets he'd posted - before claiming his account was hacked just minutes later.

Several old posts from Chase' Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts have been doing the rounds in recent weeks, with fans left unimpressed due to the racial slurs and derogatory names used to describe people with disabilities or those in the LGBTQ+ community.

So apparently addressing the backlash on Monday, Chase appeared to post a lengthy statement apologising, writing, "Yes. I will address this. I was not hiding. I consulted in one of my closest friends just as anybody else would. I have posted insensitive tweets. My Facebook has been hacked countless times. The picture isn't even of me or anybody I know. Again, I am incredibly sorry. I really am. I hope you guys see what i am currently doing and how I am continuing to do the right thing by being respectful in today's climate."

"This does not excuse my words, nor am I excusing myself. I will continue to work towards using my platform in the same capacity I have been and doing/bringing light into the world."

But moments after the apology was released, it was deleted, with Chase claiming that his Twitter account had been hacked.

"Yo just getting back into twitter," he wrote. "My password was changed, figuring things out. I'm really sorry that this is all happening at onceā€¦ Somebody obviously got access to my account. So I'm trying to solve this."

In addition, Chase deleted the initial apology as well as all his previous tweets as he attempted to sort things out.
