One day after announcing that the Broadway star has finally woken up from his coma, Amanda Kloots opens up in an interview that he has been able to respond to commands by tracking.

AceShowbiz - Nick Cordero's wife Amanda Kloots is feeling optimistic that her husband will "walk out of hospital" following his intensive coronavirus battle.

The Broadway star woke up from a coma this week (begins May 11), after spending more than a month in the hospital battling Covid-19. He suffered two mini-strokes and a series of blood clots that forced doctors to amputate his leg, but the progress he's been showing in the past few days makes Amanda feel more positive about his future.

"The nurse said to me yesterday, 'We're not pushing him out of the hospital... He's walking out of this hospital'... and I'm like, 'OK, that's right, I like that!'" Amanda smiled during an interview with U.S. TV show "Extra".

Nick has been able to respond to commands by tracking - "when we ask him a question, if it's a yes, he looks up, if it’s a no, he looks down", Amanda explained. And while he's "doing that regularly", he's still so weak that he finds it "exhausting".

But she's hopeful that, with more practice, he'll build up his strength until he can verbally respond.

As for the first thing she's going to say to her husband when she can eventually see him in person, Amanda said: "I think I'm just going to reiterate that he did it. 'You did this, you got through this, you fought and you're strong and we're going to do this together'. When he realises what he's overcome, I think he will find this inner strength that will beat all odds."
