AceShowbiz - "Southern Charm" star Kathryn Dennis has learned her lesson. The TV star took to social media after she took heat for sending racist messages to radio host Tamika Gadsden, who is also a podcaster and the leader of the Charleston Activist Network.

It started after Kathryn blasted Tamika for calling out local beauty salon owner Katie Shields who held a rally in support of President Donald Trump in Charleston, South Carolina. Tamika called it a "reprehensible" behavior, prompting Kathryn to send insensitive DMs to Tamika.

"This is what happens when a Black woman in #Charleston speaks up against white supremacy in the form of MAGA rallies," Tamika exposed the messages on Monday, May 11 on her Twitter. "My comments re: Mylk Bar prompted this @BravoTV 'actor' @KathrynDennis to taunt me with monkey emojis in my DMs. Along with a whole host of other names."

In the said messages, Kathryn called Tamika a "weenie" and told her to "grow a pair." In a separate message, the TV star also used a monkey emoji which has been used as degrading caricatures of the black community.

Not backing down, Kathryn claimed that Tamika was racist herself for calling out "white people" in an Instagram Story. "Your goal in posting statements to attempt to induce a negative stress-related response only brings light to the facts that you are indeed an officially discredited source for any and all examples or role models to any and everyone," wrote Kathryn.

However, Kathryn seemed to have a change of heart as she apologized for her action on Twitter. "I want to acknowledge that using a monkey emoji in my text was offensive, and from the bottom of my heart I sincerely apologize to anyone and everyone I hurt," she tweeted on Monday afternoon. "Although the context was not my intention, there are no 'if ands or buts' that excuse me … I did not give it thought, and it was and is wrong. I know I am not that person. I know and will do better."
