The ex-girlfriend of John Mayer has found herself being subjected to body-shaming by an creative digital director of the magazine in an article about the oral history of the annual ball.

AceShowbiz - Jessica Simpson has January Jones by her side when dealing with body-shamer. Shortly after the "With You" hitmaker responded to Vogue's "inaccurate" account of her attendance at the 2007 Met Gala with then-boyfriend John Mayer, the former "Mad Men" actress boosted her morale with a supportive statement.

"And no! women should not be talking about other women's bodies period unless it's to give a compliment or point out a suspicious looking mole," Jones wrote to Simpson in response to the latter's Instagram post that blasted former Vogue creative digital director Sally Singer. The 42-year-old additionally voiced her admiration at the photo the singer/actress used for the post.

Simpson found herself being subjected to a scathing story by Singer when Vogue published its comprehensive oral history of the Met Gala. In the article itself, Singer shared her memory of Simpson by dishing, "One year Jessica Simpson was there with John Mayer. She was wearing Michael Kors and her breasts maybe fell out of her dress on the red carpet..."

"...and then at dinner it was suddenly like, whoa, Jessica Simpson's breasts are across from me at the dinner table and they are on a platter and I'm looking at them," Singer continued recounting. "And John Mayer was putting his hands on them at the dinner table. He kind of reached down and I just remember thinking, 'Oh, celebrities, feel free to play here. That's what's going on.' "

The next day, on May 5, Simpson vented her frustration on social media. Posting the infamous black-and-white snap of Sophia Loren giving Jayne Mansfield a serious side-eye, the 39-year-old hit back by stating, "Feeling a little like Jayne Mansfield after reading this (inaccurate!) oral history of the #MetBall where I am body shamed by #SallySinger."

"But in all seriousness I have persevered through shaming my own body and internalizing the world's opinions about it for my entire adult life," the wife of former NFL athlete Eric Johnson (II) continued to express her disappointment. "To read this much anticipated article about the classiest fashion event there is and have to be shamed by another woman for having boobs in 2020 is nauseating."

In the May 4 piece, Singer noted that Simpson was wearing Michael Kors when attending the annual ball with Mayer. The "Open Book" author, however, came to the star-studded event dressed in a Roberto Cavalli gown.

In the wake of Simpson's clapback, Vogue came forward with an apologetic statement. "We are sorry that Jessica felt body-shamed by the anecdote in our Met piece," the statement read. "That was never our intent, but we understand her reaction and we apologize for including it."
