The star was expecting her first child with husband Logan Huffman, but sharing the heartbreaking news on Instagram, she revealed the couple suffered complications, which occur when the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, which can lead to serious health risks for the mother.

Writing on Instagram, the 35-year-old "4Ever" singer penned, "A month ago all of our dreams seemed to have come true. We'd found out I had fallen pregnant."

"We cried, laughed and held on to each other in pure excitement that we were going to be starting a great journey," she continued.

However, the "Untouched" hitmaker soon began experiencing excessive bleeding, noting, "My heart sank and I knew something was wrong."

After several blood tests, Lisa and Logan were eventually told she was suffering an ectopic pregnancy, as she recalled, "I needed urgent medical attention to prevent it from becoming critical. I was immediately admitted to hospital."

"Sometimes in life no matter which way we step, no matter what choice we make, we're destined to hurt."

Lisa went on to describe the experience as one of the darkest times of her life, musing, "Inevitably, I know one day we will have a family. But it just wouldn't feel right to share the good news in the future, without paying respect, love and bringing awareness to the heartbreaking journey so many women and couples face everyday."
