The 'Mystic Pizza' actress reveals the spiritual tools her family has been using to deal with their emotions and stress while they're being cooped up in the house during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

AceShowbiz - "Mystic Pizza" star Annabeth Gish has strict house rules for her husband and kids during the COVID-19 pandemic - sad and angry feelings are allowed but meanness gets the boot.

Like everyone currently stuck at home, the actress, whose latest project #Freerayshawn is a hit on new streaming platform Quibi, is using her own spiritual tools to find an upside to being on lockdown with her family in Los Angeles.

"You can be sad, you can be mad, but you can't be mean' - that's the rule in our house," she tells actor Matthew Del Negro in a new episode of his 10,000 No's podcast.

Originally intended to help her deal with missing out on roles she has auditioned for, Annabeth finds the saying is also the perfect antidote to the coronavirus crisis, adding, "Whenever the no's come, that's our mantra."

When she was still a student at Duke University in North Carolina, Gish lost out on a big part she really wanted and was devastated, but these days, she has a different perspective when she doesn't get the answer she wants, in any part of her life.

"When we sign up for this (career) as actors, writers, creatives, rejection is a part of the game...," she explains. "That's the journey. You've got to get up and keep going. Just because someone says 'no' it doesn't mean you're done... I think a 'no' can be a pivot point... a sidestep. No's are just diversions, they don't have to be walls or blocks or obstacles."

Now preparing to make her directorical debut next year 2021, Gish admits there is much to be grateful for - like her hit new Quibi show.

"There are so many arenas (for entertainment content) - like Quibi," she notes, "and you can create your own show from your basement now."

"With the young people I'm mentoring through my alumni college (programme), I just say, 'Make your own s**t. Create it. Just go.' "
