Days prior to the song release, the former Fifth Harmony member revealed on social media that she wrote the single 'from a space of reflection on how I interact with the world energetically.'

AceShowbiz - Former Fifth Harmony star Lauren Jauregui's new song "50ft." is a stark warning for people to keep their distance.

Written in December (19), long before coronavirus lockdown measures came into place worldwide, the tune sees Jauregui detail how she sees through "the bulls**t" and keeps only an "exclusive" group of people close to her side. She keeps everyone else at a 50-foot distance, especially if they're not supportive of her.

"I wrote it from a space of reflection on how I interact with the world energetically," Jauregui said on Instagram while debuting the single's cover image.

"This artwork truly encapsulates the feeling of distance spoken about in the song while asserting the closeness of my relationship to my loved ones (pictured with me are my mom and sister) who hold me the f**k down always and forever in the midst of it all."

A video for the tune was shot in December with her family and closest friends, and shows the star enjoying a gorgeous day in her Florida family home.

After Fifth Harmony disbanded, Lauren officially launched her solo career in 2018 with the slow-burning single "Expectations". She has since appeared on the "Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" soundtrack with "Invisible Chains", and released the single "Lento", with Puerto Rican reggaeton musician Tainy, last month (March).
