The 'Dancing with the Stars' alum and her athlete husband, who have been hit with rumors of marital issues, choose the unconventional arrangement as they practice social-distancing amid COVID-19 crisis.

AceShowbiz - Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich are still together despite not staying under the same roof amid the coronavirus pandemic. Having been plagued with rumors of marital issues for months, the "Dancing with the Stars" alum and her pro ice hockey player husband were reported to still be on speaking terms although they have chosen to quarantine apart.

The 31-year-old dancer/actress is currently self-isolating at their home in Los Angeles, while her 36-year-old husband chose to practice his social-distancing in Idaho. Despite the distance, a source assured that the two "speak all the time." The source told PEOPLE, "They are still together, but just not quarantined in the same place."

"Their relationship has always been like this, though - they like to do their own thing," the insider further pointed out. Noting that the couple's marriage "is not perfect, but they continue to work on it," the source additionally shared that the former athlete "is coming back to L.A. once the stay-home order is lifted."

The news of Julianne and Brooks quarantining apart came just days after she opened up about going through an emotional rollercoaster. "Feeling my internal fire raging with my deep and raw emotions this week…," she posted on Instagram on April 9. "That combination has made for one wild ride."

"There have been some super intense highs and then the pendulum must swing to the intense lows….Staying true to the path and gradually settling in," she continued. "Giving myself permission to take the space and time to find my way back to the middle- The Space Between! #kreatingkinrgy What are some of the ways or things you do that help bring you back to the space between those extremes?"

Julianne and Brooks got married in July 2017 after dating for over three years. In early January 2020, however, the pair were reported to "have been spending time apart but are not ready to share what's going on between them." A source told E! News at the time, "They don't even really know what to call it. There's a ton of love and emotion there and they are going through something very personal."

Weeks later, the twosome was seen enjoying a brunch date in Studio City, California. Allegedly in good spirits throughout the outing, they were all smiles, enjoyed each other's company and made time to pose with fans. While he was spotted wearing a ring on his ring finger, she was not seen with her wedding band on.
